For a long time, I was interested in the elevated versions of Woman—the goddess, the divine feminine, the archetype, the woman who had healed enough. But the more closely I looked at actual women, including myself, the more interesting the story became.
Because a woman is rarely one thing.
She can be graceful and jealous. Devoted and angry. Wise in one moment and completely irrational in the next. She can love deeply and still hurt people. She can be beautiful, ashamed, sensual, grieving, ambitious, frightened, generous, contradictory.
And I started wondering why we are so eager to correct her.
Why do we need the wounded woman to heal before we can honor her? Why does the tragic woman have to become triumphant?
This Is Her is my way of looking closer.
